Wickless Candles + Wax Melts

  • What goes into our melts and wickless candles? What we don't put in them is the real question.

Have you ever smelled a candle and been hit with an almost instant headache? I definitely have, but I didn't know what caused this. In all honesty, I still don't know if it was a single factor or a combination of factors (paraffin + phthalates) that caused it to happen, but I do know that when I eliminated specific ingredients in my products, the headaches were no more. In an attempt to make a healthier, more sustainable product I have chosen to create without the following ingredients.

    Paraffin

I have chosen to create our products out of 100% plant-based wax. Our choice of wax is sustainably and ethically grown in the USA.

    Phthalates

Pthalates are very commonly used in scented products to make the scents stronger and last longer, unfortunately they're not good for us and are considered endocrine disrupters. Endocrine disrupters are known to mess with our reproductive, immune, and nervous health.

    Carcinogens

Carcinogens are chemicals known to cause cancer. Like so many others , my life has been greatly impacted by loss due to cancer, so this is definitely not something I want to put in my home, or yours.

Bold & Fearless

Everyone who desires to live a sustainable lifestyle has a different story and process to accomplish those goals. Mine involves a big hearted dog that loves his job and his family.

Meet Toast

  • Why wickless? I started out making wicked candles, but had so much fun with the creative options of wax melts, and now here we are! There are definitely advantages, such as;

    Flameless Therefore Safer.

Wickless candles have no flamed involved. The candle is placed on a warmer, or under a candle lamp, so the risk of an accidental fire is eliminated. Flamless candles do involve hot melted wax so caution is still advised.

    Apartment and Dorm Friendly

Some apartments, dorms, and senior homes, don't allow wicked candles. Wickless candles and wax melts are great options if your housing doesn't allow flames but you still want to enjoy the decorative qualities, and scents of a candle.

Candle and Wax Melt Instructions

Wax Melt Care and Instructions

  • Store your melts in a cool dry place away from light.
  • Keep your room size in mind. A larger room will require more wax to fill the room.
  • Do not add to much wax to your warmer to prevent overflow and spills. It's easier to add more later than add to much and have a huge mess.
  • Do not melt wax on stove or in non-approved appliance. Only use warmers approved for wax melts.
  • Allow the wax to cool completely before removing from warmer. Be sure to properly dispose of wax. Never pour wax down drains.
  • Do not eat. I know, sometimes they just smell so delicious but don't do it!
  • Keep in mind that soy wax tends to have a lighter scent throw than paraffin or soy blends.
Candle Care Instructions
  • Store your candles in a cool dry place away from sunlight. Sunlight can cause yellowing of the wax. This will not affect the functionality of your candle, just the appearance.
  •  Place your candle under a warmer lamp. A warmer lamp that melts the tops is recommended for best results. If using a candle warmer that melts from the bottom it is recommended to peirce a relief hole through the center of the candle to avoid pressure build up. Only use appliances approved for candles. Never melt your candle on the stove.
  • The scent will start to fill your space when you have a melt pool on the surface of the wax. A lamp will produce a scent faster than a warmer simply because it melts starting at the top vs the bottom.
  • Use caution. The melted wax will be hot!
  • Keep away from pets and children
  • Keep away from flammable objects
  • Use on a safe heat resistant surface

Things To Keep In Mind

There are multiple factors that impact the throw/scent of candles.

  1. The type of wax - Soy wax is known for not having as strong of a scent throw when being compared to parrafin or soy parrafin blends. Regardless of this we have continued on our journey with soy wax for many reason, such as sustainablity and health concerns.
  2. Size of the room - A small amount of wax cannot be expected to fill a large open room with scent. Keep the size of your room in mind when choosing how much wax you use. If you intend to fill a large open space with scent, consider placing multiple warmers around the room.
  3. Time - If your candle or melts have been warmed for a while and it feels like the scent got weaker it might be sensory overload or olfactory fatigue. Basically this means we go nose blind to scents we are continously exposed to. Try going outside for a breath of fresh air and see if the scent is stronger when you reenter.
